Weddings & Events

The Adagio String Quartet:

The Adagio String Quartet is a group of talented and professional string players from Orange County. The quartet consists of 2 violins, 1 viola, and 1 cello.  On occasion, we play duets (2 musicians) or trios (3 musicians). We all hold music degrees from music conservatories and are active performers and teachers in the community. We have played in many events together over the past ten years!

Your Special Event:

A string quartet adds elegance and beauty to any occasion.  Whether you’re planning a wedding, Christmas party, summer dinner party, office party, or a romantic evening, the quartet is certain to add the perfect touch to you’re looking for.  We pride ourselves in our beautiful music and attention to detail.  We are prompt, professional, organized, and talented!  We would love to play for you!

Music Selection:

We have a large selection of music you can choose from. We have all of the traditional pieces (Canon in D, Jesu Joy of Mans Desiring, Bridal March, etc.) as well as many others that fit nicely into weddings. I understand that music selection can be overwhelming sometimes. I am available to help you choose if you would like. Most of the music we have is Classical.  We also enjoy playing hymns/sacred pieces at weddings.  If you would like a specific piece that we do not have music for, we ask that you provide the music to us in time for us to practice it ahead of time.

Wedding Ceremony Details:

Typically, we arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony begins and play 15-20 minutes of prelude music. We then play as much or as little of the ceremony music that you would like (usually the family processional, bridal party processional, the bridal processional, communion, special music if you want, and the recessional). We will also play for about 10 minutes at the end as your guests leave. The quartet also often plays background music for the cocktail hour before the DJ takes over for the reception.  All of this is very flexible. We can accommodate what you have in mind.  We wear nice black clothes and bring our own music stands. We ask that you provide chairs and appropriate lighting (inside stage lights or a patio umbrella for shade if outside).

The full quartet is always recommended as it provides the fullest sound and has the largest selection of music to choose from.  If you are considering a smaller ensemble, please dialogue with me about the size and location of your ceremony.  I will help you determine what will be an appropriate ensemble size for your particular needs.

Please feel free to write back or call me with any other questions you may have.  Coordinating wedding music is something I enjoy very much and something I take very seriously. I have been playing in weddings for 10 years now and understand the organization it takes to make it run smoothly so that the music at your ceremony is beautiful. I hope to hear from you soon.
