About Laurel McMillen:
I am a violinist, private teacher, school orchestra director, and early childhood music and movement instructor in Orange County. My love of the violin began at the age of five after attending a children’s symphony concert. I received my Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Biola Conservatory of Music where I won the 2005 Solo Competition, performing Vivaldi’s Spring from the Four Seasons. I performed with the La Jolla Symphony from 2005 – 2008. I received my elementary multiple-subject teaching credential from Vanguard University in 2012.
I completed my Masters in Education from Vanguard University in 2013. I was honored to receive the Education Researcher Award for my thesis work which focused on helping beginning students be successful in the practice room.
Currently, I am a private violin/viola teacher. I perform with the Adagio String Quartet and with the worship team at my church. My passion for education extends beyond music to elementary classroom education, MusikGarten, and Sunday School.
